Exciting New Partnership!
The foundations of power in any engine build are the engine block and crank.
We are thrilled to be partnering with Callies Performance Products to utilize both their blocks and cranks in many of our Race Spec and other engjne builds.
We have the first two engines derived from this work coming together. First a Race Spec 1,600+ HP engine we intend to have tested and on display at PRI and a 1,750+ HP Race Spec Drag Pak Max engine that we hope will later propel BlackbirdX into the 6.5-6.6s and well over 200+. Both use the newly available Callies Gen III Cast Aluminum Blocks (the 1,600+ uses the Hellephant style and the 1,750+ the Drag Pak style) and both will utilize their Magnum forged crankshafts.
Our involvement in and the roots of these high performance cast aluminum block designs go back to our work in 2017 to push, test and improve them in the Drag Pak program. Of course Callies further improved many, many aspects as they took on the work and they are Made in the USA. When BES Racing Engines began the work with these Callies production blocks in these builds, they told me how impressed they were with the as received quality and machining. Trust me, that’s a rare compliment from them, folks who know block machining as well as anyone I’ve ever encountered or worked with (and in my formative years at Caterpillar, we made a lot of very high quality, highly stressed blocks…in fact, all the DRCE blocks for quite some time). Saving time and money downstream and leading to more reliable, lighter weight horsepower.
