A big day for us again today, as unfortunately for another BES engine customer, a part didn’t arrive, and so BES generously allowed us some more time on the dyno.
With that extra day, we were able to run our first Blackbird Performance Race Spec 1,000+ engine, and man, I think this is going to be a very nice and affordable package for the Race / Swap crowd.
It’s a factory late model, with ARP Rod bolts, Hellcat 376 CID short block. To that very solid foundation we add a package we worked with our great partner at SDG on that upgrades the new Hellcat 2.4 IHI supercharger and makes it more race / swap friendly for many. The package includes the awesome SDG low restriction billet bearing plate; SDG cast, low restriction inlet; drive hub and pulley; an adapter plate and Motion Raceworks 102mm mechanical throttle body; a new BBP simple and effective mechanical/vacuum bypass; BBP billet fuel rails and a low profile, modified for AN inlet connections TRX style intercooler inlet.
After tuning up the new blower, we add a set of our BBP Race Prep New Factory Casting Hellcat CNC heads that include PSI 1515ML springs and BBP Ti retainers, they also have the added 6.4l intake bolt pattern and CNC clearancing of the spark plug tube tops and pushrods holes for later upgrades to adjustable rockers and/or 3/8”pushrods. Then we install one of our Mach 3 Hydraulic roller cams and BBP phaserless timing sets. We offer a choice of swap oil pans and we finish it off with a BBP Supercharger Belt Tensioner and multi position bracket set to significantly improve the drive system and then dress it up with our powder coated Race Spec 1,000+ lid and a set of, your style choice, of our BBP High Performance Cast Valve covers.
It’s now a package that is very robust, has blower speeds, boost and timing that are proven to last a long, long time and with the mechanical throttle and bypass, can be controlled with a relatively simple control system such as a Holley Terminator X (complete system now $1,700ish). We haven’t yet added these to our website but will very soon.
So 1,000+ HP (1,075 actual in this case, and > 1,000 HP for more than 1,000 rpm) for your Race / Swap project for less than $20k.
This first one is headed to Keith Robinson and his beautiful ‘69 Road Runner where it replace a proven big block Mopar but add some substantial, reliable modern power from its new G3 Hemi.
While we haven’t yet advertised this new Race Spec 1,000+ offering, we already have several more to build, to go help make some more G3 Hemi powered dreams, like Keith’s Road Runner, come true.
