850+ HP Naturally Aspirated Gen 3 Hemi Built for Briggs Racing Dirt Late Model
Another great day at the horsepower factory, where we worked with Tony Bischoff and his awesome BES Racing Engine crew, to once again, create one bad dude of a NA G3 Hemi…this one, for going in lots, and lots of circles, slinging dirt in the Briggs Racing Late Model.
We have plenty to learn in this roundy round world of racing, but we think this first attempt at a G3 Hemi engine for the dirt, will be a good place to start working with the Briggs new ride.
Built on the just fantastic foundation of a Callies / Energy G3 Aluminum block, very strong and 80-100lbs lighter than cast iron options, a Callies Magnum crank and Callies Ultra rods, all proudly made here in the USA, this engine utilized our Factory Cast CNC ported heads (we will later upgrade to our heads) and a solid cam profile that will likely become our Mach 5 grind. It was built, not to make big peak HP numbers, but to instead have a good amount of torque down low for restarts, and a very wide, very long, usable power band. All that, lit on methanol, with factory coils and just the little ol’ $749 Afterburner ignition.
With a peak torque of over 660 ft lbs, peak power over 850 HP, 840+ for over 1,000 rpm and over 800 HP of usable power for over 2,000+ rpm, I’d say it’s ready for it’s initial reconnaissance mission in the dirt.
