A Great Weekend at Rockingham Dragway!

Truly a blessing to experience a young man, who is already a very accomplished driver, work hard side by side with his also very accomplished racer father and grandfather, making the bold move from a Small Block Mopar to the little 392 NA, carburetor G3 Hemi that could, and all of it coming together in the long week before. Then to see their smiles as the hope they did well becomes reality, with a car that has now picked up more than half a second in the 1/8th, and over a second in the 1/4, then on it’s fifth full pass, running his first round racing it, their first round G3 powered win, with a 0.001 reaction time and a 6.22 on a 6.21.. what a great start ! It was clear, there would be plenty more round and overall wins with this team. Of course, he raced again today at another race, running like clockwork and winning another couple rounds, going quicker and faster, again, while doing it.

To hear the screaming small CID, supercharged engines of the Factory Spec competitors, including a Dodge, Chevy and Ford at this event, make side by side 7.7 second runs and in the final, Tony Scott, his awesome team’s COPO Camaro prevail as the now consistent, hard charging, 180+ MPH Drag Pak of Marc Heidings goes a 7.696 to the Camaro’s 7.711, what a joy. And for all the competitors to share just how much fun they had, and they won over $2k in the process.

To see Brian Bednar beautiful carbureted G3 Hemi powered Oldsmobile Cutlass once again take the win in the 9.50 index class and go rounds in King of the Hill, just another excellent job by he and his crew.

And Margie Heidings with a very nice recovery on her 2nd round, spinning down track, difficult run.
