BBP Race Spec NA 700+ HP Engine In Action!!
It’s been a long hard week for Mark Dudley Jr., his dad, Mark senior, and friends but I think the results speak for themselves, them NC boys know how to get ‘er done.
They began the week dropping the first Blackbird Performance Race Spec NA 700+ HP Engine (392 G3 based) into Mark’s battle tested, and many, many race winning Duster. With the right swap parts, a reasonable amount of work and some of their homegrown ingenuity, it looked right at home where the 418 CID, fairly worked over Small Block Mopar had been.
We left Rockingham Dragway to run over to help during the first shakedown runs at another great NC track, where I have fond memories of racing with my 5 year old son, 25 years ago, still a nice track Farmington Dragway.
And on its third pass, it had already quickly proven, it was about 0.5 seconds quicker in the 1/8th and likely over a full second qucker in the 1/4 mile than with the 418 CID SBM. We’d hoped for it to go 6.0-6.1s in the 1/8th and mid 9s in the 1/4, and it appears to be there or better.
As excited as we are for them, after Mark gets some sleep, we’ll let him tell more about the swap, firsthand, from he and his dad’s experience making it happen.

We can’t wait to see it run Mopars at the Rock, and to see if Mark can put his now G3 Hemi powered Duster in the winner’s circle again, like he did last year.
