Testing the Afterburner Ignition System
A blessing to work with the engine development dream team at BES Racing Engines.
Today, we continued our work on the Race Spec NA Carbureted engines and focused on wringing out our Blackbird Performance Products Afterburner Ignition system that allows you to use the stock type dual plug coil packs with just a couple power wires and a crank sensor (you can also use a manifold pressure sensor if you so choose).
As a veteran of using and tuning engines with the majority of control systems in the market today, I can tell you a first time use has never gone smoother, hook up the power, an ignition on, plug into the crank sensor and coils with the included harness, and the engine fires right up. On the second pull, it duplicated the performance of the engine running the coils with a Holley Dominator.
It’s an awesome alternative to anything on the market, more versatile (works with all Hemi crank reluctor wheels), about 30% less expensive than the leading alternative and worked like a charm, made in the USA, $749 for the complete system and harnesses needed.
