Testing the Race Spec 1,650+ or maybe 1,700+...
Such a blessing to have cool things to work on with great people and for people who want help making their G3 Hemi powered dreams come true.
The last couple days with the rockstars at BES Racing Engines, Brett, the whole crew, bit a lot of the dynamic duo of Mike Weiner and Ben Hoitink as we tested a number of changes to the once Race Spec 1,600+, spoiler, guess we will have to rename it the Race Spec 1,650+ or maybe 1,700+. This specific one soon to be going in Kevin Burnett’s Top Dragster.
The great folks at Milodon made us a G3 Hemi dragster pan that incorporates a lot of nice features, a remote oil pump that easily bolts to our new front cover/drive system along with our new tensioner bracket and our proven Supercharger Belt Tensioner. (The engjne already had our timing chain setup which we once again used to put the cam in the best place for this application).
On the first pull to 7,000 it was clear the changes had added 40-50 HP, so we checked some things out, detuned it to rein it in a bit and made a full pull to 8,200 where it peaked at about 1,660+ HP. A spicier tune and it might have made 1,700 HP. Oil control and pressure, clearly improved, thanks Steve, Tom and the crew at Milodon.

In summary, working with these extremely talented folks to design, develop, test and go out and race prove out parts, makes it look easy. Thanks to all of them and to Kevin Burnett, time to load this bullet in the chamber and see if we can’t get to those low to mid 6 second 1/ 4 mile passes, again and again, that you need.
All that, and our old buddy, Dave Visner got us our billet block, going to work in the all out, max power efforts, with our billet heads.
